Vince Gilligan Shares He Knows How The Apple TV+ Show Will Conclude... At the Moment.

Vince Gilligan never anticipated that the Apple TV+ show would turn into a massive hit. “I am so grateful to the audience,” he states. “I was surprised by the show being as widely discussed as it is, and it makes me thrilled beyond words.”

As the debut season of the popular program coming to an end—and a second season already in development—the writers' room opened up about the viewer reception and whether it will influence the narrative path of Pluribus.

About the Incredible Audience Reaction

One could easily to get distracted by the constant speculation and online debates regarding Pluribus. The creator is doing his best to steer clear of all that.

“It feels like constantly eating your favorite dessert and being in a state of bliss,” he describes. “It's amazing, but I hear about it from others, and that's on purpose. Not once have I searched for my own name online, nor do I ever plan to. Not because I don't care. It's a rabbit hole I know I would fall into and then I'd be pooping in a five gallon bucket from the hardware store and I'd rarely emerge from my living room.”

In spite of trying to stay away, there’s it's impossible to ignore the overwhelmingly positive response to the series. The most practical strategy is to take it in stride and try not to let it alter the course of the show.

“We don't try to adjust our writing,” says co-executive producer Alison Tatlock. “Our storytelling is not impacted by online forums.”

“Better to keep our focus on the work,” he chimes in.

The Big Question: Will Vince Gilligan See the Finale of Pluribus?

Considering the writers aren’t being guided by audience theories, can we assume they have already decided how Pluribus will ultimately end? In short yes… in a way.

“We've developed some potential directions about how the story could conclude,” he states. “yet we stand ready to throw out a good idea for a more brilliant plan. This approach has served us in excellent shape on Better Call Saul and on Breaking Bad even before that. We change course when we get a better idea and I suspect we'll be doing that.”

Then again, if all else fails, Gordon Smith has a pretty funny idea to serve as a last resort.

“I keep pitching that the entire story is inside a snow globe, and that we'll zoom out in the finale and we're in there,” Smith jokes, “but nobody's taking me up on that.”

Alternatively, why not reference the legendary finales?

“I want Carol to awaken next to Bob Newhart,” he jokes.

Pluribus can be watched on the streaming service.
