Iran Reports Assault on US Base in Bahrain, During Regional Military Operations.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations across the region in retaliation for a significant and continuing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone near the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any impact is not yet known and the United States has not commented.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - reported they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on the Islamic Republic carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That US-Israeli operation - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on sites associated with the Iranian leadership, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces said it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems responded to the missiles with notable success and shot down a several projectiles," it added.
The statement noted debris landed in a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and killing a civilian.
The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
