Football Analyst Chris Sutton Battles Artist Olly Murs in Premier League Predictions
Arsenal's 10-game winning streak came to an end by the Black Cats before the global break, but can the English top division frontrunners bounce back against local foes Spurs this Sunday?
"{I feel like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," stated football specialist Chris Sutton.
"The Spurs manager will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still manage to win."
The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, versus artificial intelligence, readers and a range of guests.
In week 12, he faces performer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United fan.
The singer's new album, Knees Up, is out on the weekend.
Soccer and Family Experiences
Murs is a skilled soccer player as well as a successful singer and has been a featured player of several charity football matches down the years - but he is not intending a professional return as a player.
"{I recently played in a charity match the other evening for a friend of mine," he explained. "The team was losing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you will!
"I still love football, but I hurt my knee a few years ago and it still hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the game means it's too risky for me in my profession to do it seriously again.
"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my daughter or son chooses to play instead."
Murs and his wife Amelia Tank have two children, their daughter and Albert, and he is prepared to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming their coach.
"I won't push football on our kids but I've previously told Amelia that if they happen to get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be coaching their weekend football team," he said.
"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I obviously was involved with a football club for a period too.
"My father coached with us when I was a kid, which is probably where I inherited it. He managed our side for several years and had a wonderful time with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am excited to it!"
Top Division Forecasts
Weekend, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
Chelsea may have to be patient for Cole Palmer's return from injury but their attack is already stronger with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.
I still think this game will be fairly tight, though. Burnley are disciplined and their sole home defeats so far have been against Liverpool and Arsenal.
It suggests a one-all tie to me, but I am actually going to go with the London side to edge it for what would be their third Premier League win in a row.
Sutton's forecast: 1-2
Olly's prediction: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3
AI's outlook: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Cherries have been defeated in their past two matches - albeit both of them were on the road - but they got absolutely spanked by Villa last time out which shocked me.
In contrast, the Hammers won back-to-back victories before the hiatus and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they do look strong again.
The Hammers' sole on the road win this campaign came at Forest in the summer, when their boss Nuno Espirito Santo was still that team's manager.
Therefore, what on earth do I go with here - can the Hammers extending their streak under Nuno, or the home side bouncing back?
I am going to go with the Cherries, because I think what occurred against Villa was a anomaly.
Sutton's prediction: 2-0
Olly's prediction: Bournemouth are performing strongly but the visitors have picked up under their boss. 2-2
The algorithm's prediction: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Brentford were considered one of the frontrunners for relegation before the campaign began, but they have impressed a few people under their manager and are in fine fettle with three in their past four matches.
A family member told me to select Brentford forward Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks ago and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.
The forward will probably find the net again on the weekend but I am still not going to select him or support the away side at Amex Stadium.
The Bees have not had much fortune on the travel this term, and the Seagulls are always strong at their stadium. The visitors will try to hit them on the counter-attack but I feel the home manager's team carry much more of a danger.
Sutton's prediction: 2-1
The singer's view: This could be one of those games where you think there is going to be a many goals but it actually turns out to be quite tight. 1-1
The computer's outcome: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
This is a huge fixture for Fulham, who have suffered defeat in five of their last six matches.
They have got lots of talent in their team but it nonetheless seems like they could be dragged into a drop zone battle.
As for the Black Cats, indeed they are the surprise package of the top flight campaign so far.
The away side's display in the 2-2 tie with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We have not witnessed any other team rough up the Gunners like that this season, and they were fully competitive for them.
The logical choice to do to support the visitors here, because they are clearly able of disrupting Fulham up too and, the last time they were in this part of London, they beat the Blues at the close of October.
But I am not going to choose that. Instead, I truly need to continue opposing Sunderland with my predictions. I am taking a lot of credit for their positive results because they evidently enjoy to prove me wrong.
Considering Fulham's at Craven Cottage record, the sole side they have lost to is Arsenal. Their manager's side will be extremely eager for a positive result, so I am going to predict they will pick up three points.
Sutton's forecast: 1-0
The guest's prediction: I know the visitors are doing well and also that the hosts are on a poor run... but they have still been respectable at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0
AI's prediction: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
It is a hard fixture to call. Liverpool have suffered seven of their last ten matches in all competitions, but might they be among the teams who profit from the {international break|
