England's Bowling Consultant Tim Southee Unsure on Ashes Participation
Tim Southee's last Test for the Kiwis was against the English side in the final month of 2024.
England bowling consultant Southee is still working through what his involvement will be during the forthcoming Ashes series in Australia.
The ex- New Zealand seamer is expected to be available for the opening match because of his involvement in the ILT20 competition, which begins on 2 December in the UAE.
The 36-year-old, aged 36, assumed a position as England's pace bowling advisor in the summer after claiming 391 wickets in 107 Tests for New Zealand.
Commenting as the English squad for the opening of three Twenty20 games against New Zealand was named, he said of his participation: "We're still working through that at the present time.
"We will determine what happens over the next little while."
England bowling legend Broad had stated the Australia team as their "worst team since 2010", but Southee was in little doubt over what to expect during the contest, which starts on 21 November.
"In my view there's at any time a poor Aussie side," he said.
"The team's attention is squarely on what we're trying to do. I think the caliber of [the English] side that's going out to the host country is excellent.
"It should be an absolute cracker, that series. Not just [are|do] fans from both nations looking forward to it, I think the whole cricket world is."
However, before the English team travel to Perth for the opening Ashes Test, they face the Kiwis in the city of Christchurch on this Saturday.
